The Hidden Gem of the Grand Canyon: Horseshoe Bend

Jess Valentine

After it being near the top of our USA bucket list for years, we finally got to experience how grand the Grand Canyon really is. After our visit many people asked us, “Which rim of the Grand Canyon is best?”

The Bay area of California is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. With its laid-back lifestyle, San Francisco is the perfect place to go to enjoy the sun and the surf but with all of the excitement and pizzazz you find in a city.

The East Coast of the United States is an incredibly diverse stretch of land with beaches, mountains, swamps, and more. You’ll be hard pressed to beat these locations if you are a photography fanatic. So, pack up your equipment, get your shot list together and have an incredible adventure travelling through the best and most beautiful parts of the East Coast in the United States of America.

Each state on East Coast has a special food that it is famous for. As you read through the list, it’ll become clear how the land, the history and the crops they grow influence the most popular dishes in each state. From sumptuous desserts to fresh seafood dishes, there will be someone for everyone’s tastes.

Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice about New York City is that everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. That’s because there is always something going and somewhere to be. It isn’t a cliché in this city where no matter what part of the city you are in or what you are interested in, there will be an activity for you to participate in every weekend and almost every single week night.

So, you're headed to the East Coast of the United States for your holiday. Maybe Philadelphia, New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C. are on your travel itinerary. How should you pack for these cities and this part of the country? Where you end up on the coast will inform what you'll do and what you'll need to pack, but there are a few essentials to bring along with you (or purchase once in the US) to make sure you don't stand out as a tourist and are prepared for everything the East Coast has to offer travellers.

New York City or the "Big Apple" is one of the coolest cities I've travelled to and is the mecca of fashion and big brands. To see New York City properly, you need at least two weeks and even then, you'll find you need more time as you discover little pockets of culture and funky places to hang out.

Over the last few years there has been a noticeable increase in medical expenses incurred by Australians travelling overseas.  Australia has a limited amount of 'Reciprocal Health Agreements' in place which allow for minimised costs for Australian Citizens by providing full cover for medical expenses incurred at the public hospital and practitioner level in countries such as the United Kingdom and New Zealand.  However, in many popular travel destinations these agreements do not exist.  This means that Australians who are injured or become ill in these countries can face expensive medical bills. These bills become even more expensive in countries such as the United States of America which has no public health care system and charge non residents at higher rates.

Katie couldn’t pass up the chance to be bridesmaid for her best friend in the UK, even with a 15 month old baby in tow. Here she shares with us her travels throughout Europe for her big trip.

Jody Elliott

Today is the first of a new blog series for Cover-More Australia. The blog posts document the adventures, experiences and impressions that Jody Elliot, our Cover-More Case Manager, had during her first season as a Case Manager on the ground in Bali. Our decision to create the role of medical case manager and brand ambassador in Bali was important to our bottom line: Australians love Bali, and Bali loves us, but Bali also has a higher rate of injury and sickness than other travel destinations in the world. By creating this role we are able to put a friendly and familiar face in the midst of a foreign island whose primary concern is and always will be you, should the need arise. Now, here’s Jody with the first blog post about arriving in Bali.
