Here’s what you get with our international travel insurance
Your overseas holiday should be about making memories that’ll last a lifetime – not struggling through tough times. So, take us with you. We’ll help you worry less and focus on the fun stuff. How? Because our international travel insurance can help in more ways than one if things take a (bad) turn.
But! We also cover what we say we will. Have a look at the table below to see what’s covered, what‘s not, and the limits for our international cover.
Don’t forget to actually read theProduct Disclosure Statement (PDS) – it’s the source of truth about our limits, exclusions, and conditions. Yes, it might sound boring (it is a bit). But you’ve got to read it. It’ll help you choose the best international travel insurance for you and your escape. Plus, it’ll help you understand your cover.
Good to know: You get a 21-day cooling-off period with our insurance. That means we can refund you the cost of your policy if you change your mind within 21 days of buying it (as long as you haven't started your trip, or you don't want to make a claim).

What you get with our single trip travel insurance for Australian trips
Whether you’re taking a quick trip to another city or going on an epic Aussie adventure across multiple state borders, domestic travel insurance can help when your plans don’t go to, erm, plan.
We’ve got three domestic plans for you to choose from for your one-off trip: Basic, Comprehensive, and Comprehensive+. We also cover what we say we will. So, before you hit ‘buy’ on your single trip travel insurance for your Australian holiday, take a beat and look at the table below. Because if it’s not covered by your policy, we won’t be able to pay the bill.
You should also read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). We know it’s not exactly entertaining pre-holiday reading, but it’s the source of truth when it comes to our single trip travel insurance cover’s limits, exclusions, and conditions.
Good to know: If you travel within Australia a lot (envious? Us?!), you could save time and money with a multi-trip policy. We sell domestic annual multi-trip policies, so if you’re looking for an excuse to travel more in our own backyard in the next 12 months, maybe this is your sign to do just that.

Uncover more about our international travel insurance
Our two cents? Check your passport’s expiry date before it’s too late. Use packing cubes to keep your suitcase somewhat organised. And get to know our cover before you buy.
It’s up to you to decide if international travel insurance is worth it. But we can tell you this: it might come in handy if things go sideways while you’re overseas.
It could be as simple as a delayed bag that flew to Rome while you’re in Paris. It could be something as serious as an injury or illness that means you need to be hospitalised or evacuated home to Australia.
Having the right international travel insurance cover can help with costs that come with unexpected plot twists in your holiday story whether the issue is minor or major.
But we don’t just cover unexpected costs at Cover-More. We’re also here to care for you 24/7. We’ll be here to help if something happens overseas and you’re not sure what to do or who to call. It’s what we do – and why our international travel insurance is worth packing.
The short answer is? A lot.
The long answer? We have three international travel insurance plans. Each one offers varying levels of cover for these benefits:
Overseas Emergency Medical and Dental Expenses
Additional Expenses
Amendment or Cancellation Costs (you pick how much you need!)
Luggage and Travel Documents
Delayed Luggage Allowance
Missed Connections
Travel Delays
Driving Holidays
Loss of Income
Accidental Death
…and more.
We also have additional cover options you can add to your policy to suit your plans:
Cruise Cover
Adventure Activities Cover
Motorcycle/Moped Riding Cover
Snow Sports Cover
Cancellation Plus Cover
…and you can even increase your luggage item limit if you’ve packing expensive items.
Your trip, your cover. You get to choose what extras you do and don’t need - it's your holiday, after all.
Good to know: You can compare our three plans to help you choose the right international travel insurance for you. And always read the PDS so you know what you are and aren’t covered for.
The easiest way to find out how much it’ll cost is to get a quote. Just scroll to the top of this page to get cracking!
Here’s a tip – read our PDS to compare our plans! Yes it’s long. But it’s got loads of info on all the benefits, what exactly each plan includes, and the cover limits. Understanding the details will help you figure out which plan is right for your trip.
Want the TL;DR version?
Our Comprehensive+ plan has more bells and whistles than the others. It’s for travellers who want access to our highest benefit levels for extra extra protection.
Our Comprehensive international travel insurance plan is our most popular. It’s our mid-tier plan with a mix of the essentials and the nice-to-haves.
Our Basic plan might do the trick if you just want base-level cover and you’re OK with lower cover limits.
But seriously – do check the PDS before you buy.
Yes, but for medical emergencies only (e.g. we don’t cover elective medical expenses, such as facelifts or liposuction).
All three of our international plans get you access to $unlimited cover for overseas medical expenses* and up to $2,000 for dental costs.
This cover level stays the same whether you’re going on a one-off trip or have an annual multi-trip policy. It also resets every time you get home if you’ve bought an annual multi-trip policy.
What can our Overseas Medical and Dental Expense help cover? Things like medical treatment and ambulance rides if you get sick, injured, or have an accident while you’re overseas. You know, the super expensive stuff you'd rather not fork out for while on holiday! The stuff you don’t plan for on a holiday!
You'll also get cover for emergency evacuations or getting sent back home if needed.
Read the big print:
*Cover for medical and dental expenses only lasts up to 12 months from when the issue starts.
We’ll only cover these costs if we approve your claim and it’s arranged through (and confirmed necessary by) our emergency assistance team.
Existing medical conditions are excluded unless approved by us and any required extra premium is paid.
Terms and conditions apply to pregnancy, and childbirth is not covered.
Medical and dental cover doesn’t apply while you’re in Australia.
Need emergency support, fast?
We’re here for you, 24/7
You can buy your cover, keep your policy in your pocket – and more. With access to top travel discounts, AI itinerary planner, up-to-date safety advice, 24/7 assistance, local emergency numbers – even a hospital and pharmacy locator! – it’s an app that’s actually useful.
Still curious about our cover? Let’s unpack your questions.
Yes, you can. But full disclosure – our international travel insurance plans don’t automatically come with our Cruise Cover included. (This is because not every holiday is a cruise holiday!) You can easily add it to your policy (for an extra cost) if you need it.
When do you need to include our Cruise Cover? If you’re going on an ocean or sea-going cruise for two or more nights. You won’t have access to medical and dental cover while you’re sailing if you don’t. And falling ill or getting injured on a cruise can get expensive…
Including our Cruise Cover in your policy gets you access to:
Cruise Cancellation cover (when you have Cancellation cover on your policy)
On-board Medical and Dental cover
Ship-to-Shore Medical cover
Sea Sickness Cover
Cabin Confinement cover
Missed Port (embarkation)
Missed Shore Excursions.

Absolutely! All our international travel insurance plans come with built-in cover for your luggage and travel documents while you’re globetrotting.
How much cover? That depends on which of our three plans you pick:
International Comprehensive+: up to $25,000
International Comprehensive: up to $15,000
International Basic: up to $5,000.
Important bits for you to know: All items (including phones, watches, and jewellery) have sub-limits and the limit per item type are based on your plan. Depreciation comes into play if your stuff is over 24 months old. So, keep this in mind when packing your treasures!
Yes, you can! We reckon you’re only as old as you feel. We also think more life experience is a good thing when it comes to travel.
We don’t have a specific seniors’ international travel insurance plan– our international plans are designed for all kinds of travellers under 100 years of age. You can get a quote online or call us on 1300 72 88 22 if you’d prefer to speak to a person.
Got existing medical conditions? We know they can crop up as you get older – but they don’t have to stop you from travelling. Just don’t forget to declare all your existing medical conditions when you’re buying our cover! If they flare up during your travels, and you haven’t told us about all your existing medical conditions, and you haven’t paid the extra premium to include cover, we won’t be able to pay the bills.
Please call us if you need help with completing the medical assessment – we're happy to help!
You can! It’s smart to lock in your cover right after you make the first booking relating to your trip. (Think: overseas flights.) That way you can choose the best level of cancellation cover based on your trip cost – and this cover kicks in straight away!
Good to know: There’s a three-day no-cover period if you buy your Cover-More international travel insurance after you leave home. This means you won’t have any cover for the first three days after you buy your policy – for anything that happens or has happened in those three days. Another reason to lock in your insurance before leaving home!
Yes! We know COVID-19 isn’t a huge concern for most people anymore but it still is for some. We have some COVID-19 cover as standard in all three of our international travel insurance plans if it’s something you’re concerned about. Have a read of the PDS – it has all the details about our COVID-19 cover and how it can help you worry less.
