Many music lovers travel the world in search of the perfect musical experience, allowing them to meet like-minded individuals and see new, exciting places.

If you are eager to travel to some of the best music festivals in the world, you can't skip events like Coachella, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and South by Southwest.

Learn a bit more about these sensational festivals and see which ones you want to head to in 2014.

Coachella

Coachella takes place in California and is known for its star-studded line-ups. It's so popular, in fact, that it takes place over two weekends, and celebrities are often spotted in the audience, too.

2014's line up has not yet been announced, but having hosted acts like Blur, Danny Brown, James Blake, Jessie Ware, Vampire Weekend and scores of other much-loved acts, next year is sure to be just as - if not more - amazing as the past.

Festival-goers are known for their fashion choices, which range from flower child to bright neons to swimwear. Some will camp on-site, while others will stay at accommodation nearby.

Glastonbury

This is an extremely popular festival that takes place in the UK and is particularly unique for its eco-friendly approach in urging visitors to take public transport to the event.

A huge number of famous acts have graced the stages of this festival, including David Bowie, Van Morrison, Oasis, Radiohead, The Cure, The Rolling Stones, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen and countless others.

Have fun in the green fields this festival offers and know you are in good company, with memories of amazing years gone by - and years to come - surrounding you.

It is known to rain, however, so do bring along your gumboots!

Lollapalooza

This festival takes place in Chicago and is making a name for itself worldwide. Overall, Lollapalooza lasts for three days and hosts over 100,000 attendees.

It has seen hugely diverse line-ups, including everything from Rage Against the Machine to Coldplay, Calvin Harris to Pearl Jam, Lady Gaga to Nine Inch Nails.

Over 130 artists take to the stage over the three-day festival period, providing a huge array of musical experiences.

While the focus at Lollapalooza is on the music, there are plenty of other fun things to do as well. On-site, you can find a farmer's market, stalls selling handmade arts and crafts and plenty of delicious food and drink to enjoy.

South by Southwest

South by Southwest, also referred to as SXSW, is more than a music festival - rather, it's a total multimedia experience.

It combines music, film and interactive sessions with a huge range of speakers, aiming to promote innovation.

You'll find this festival in Austin, Texas, with a dizzying schedule of events on offer, running for over a week.

In 2013, a number of films had their US or worldwide premiere at the festival, and a huge variety of tech companies and notable individuals took part in the 'interactive' element of the festival.
