A recent article written by NomadicMatt talked about travel goals and reviewing the bucket list you may have written 10 years ago.

In his article, he notes that he finds bucket lists limiting and that a list of goals and accomplishments you may want to achieve in your 20’s will be vastly different in your 30’s and 40’s.

So he’s decided to write his list of travel priorities for the next three years. These travel priorities include:

  • Safari in East Africa
  • Hike the Inca Trail
  • See the Football World Cup
  • Spend 4 -5 months backpacking in South America
  • See Antarctica

The essence of the article for me is how do you achieve balance in life? Not everyone can be a travel blogger, some have responsibilities at home (i.e. children, mortgage, career etc) which means that exploring the world for 12 months at a time is out of reach for now.

In trying to answer the question for myself, I’ve come to realise that planning months or maybe years in advance and staying focused on my travel dreams will be the key to attaining the ‘balance in life’.
